A PRACTICAL WAY TO WORK TOGETHER

From the first conversation
to a clear next step.

Leadership, a new system, or an improvement to what you have: the work starts with understanding your business.

  1. 01

    Understand the operation.

Talk through your goals, follow the workflows and information handoffs, and identify the problem worth solving.

  2. 02

    Design the next step.

Compare the options and agree on priorities, requirements, responsibilities, scope, and success criteria.

  3. 03

    Deliver. Review. Improve.

Review decisions and progress together. Systems projects move in agreed phases, with testing, handover, and support defined.

The right answer may be better use of an existing tool, an integration, or a custom system. We work through that decision with you.

MEET YOUR TECHNOLOGY PARTNER

An owner’s perspective.
A builder’s mindset.

I’m Scott Marx. I’ve spent more than 30 years turning business needs into working technology.

My first projects began in the early 1990s with a Microsoft Access application for Burke West Sales. I went on to build and operate SeaTac.net, designing an ISP network from the ground up with very little help.

Through My Tangled Web, I turned owners’ ideas into integrated systems supporting inventory, billing, vehicle management, sales, and other operations. My background also includes business-network design and domain services, website design through Data Services Unlimited, and owning and operating a cell phone store.

Later, as co-founder and CTO of LoanTek, I led engineering teams and enterprise software delivery. That combination of business ownership, systems thinking, and hands-on development shapes the work I bring to Emerald Coast Geeks.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Let’s make
the next step clearer.

Every business is different. These are a few of the conversations we can start with.

What is a fractional CIO?

A fractional chief information officer provides technology leadership on a part-time basis. The role helps connect your business goals with the applications, information, infrastructure, and vendors your team relies on. Responsibilities and involvement are agreed for your engagement.

Can you build software around our workflows?

Yes. Custom business systems is a core offering. We start with your requirements and agree on the functions, integrations, and delivery phases. That can include inventory, billing, sales, vehicle management, or other parts of your operation.

Do we have to replace everything?

We first review the tools and workflows already in place. The next step may be improving an existing system, connecting products, or building something custom. Discovery helps us choose a sensible approach.

What does an engagement cost?

Pricing depends on the agreed scope and level of involvement. We define the work, responsibilities, and pricing before an engagement begins. Custom systems are scoped in phases, with acceptance and handover agreed.

How do we get started?

Email Scott with a short description of your business and what you want to improve. We’ll work through whether the need is technology leadership, a custom system, or a focused improvement to existing tools.
